Dudley H. Harris, M.D.
Dr. Harris was born in Waco, Texas in 1942. His early childhood years were spent in Georgetown, Texas. His family moved to Austin where he attended Stephen F. Austin High School. He graduated with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in biology and chemistry. He attended medical school at the University of Texas in Dallas and completed his internship and residency at Bexar County Hospital in San Antonio. After his training in ophthalmology, he served two years in the Navy, stationed at Naval Hospital Guam.
Dr. Harris opened his private practice in 1975 in San Antonio. In 1980, he built his present downtown office and Ambulatory Surgical Center. The Surgical Center was the first ophthalmic surgicenter in Texas to be recognized by Medicare. Dr. Harris enjoys traveling to Central America and India where he performs and teaches eye surgery. He and his wife, Carol, have one son, Adam, who's married to Megan and lives in Austin.
